My hubby and I are expecting a baby boy in June and I'm stuck on the name (Lucas Joshua Willoughby)- this is a name my hubby and I picked out about 3 months ago. Just recently my hubby decides he no longer likes the name Lucas and wants to name him Joshua Ellis Willoughby. I want him to like the name (which he loved it 2 weeks ago!) but I'm so broken hearted over this because I love the name Luke. Our baby shower is also next week and I already know of one person that got a bib with Lucas on it. Also we have to figure it out because a quilt is being made for him. I feel like this name is ordained for this child... I've tried everything I know to get my hubby to understand how I feel. I even said we'll go with Lucas and you can pick a middle name and he hates the name Lucas now! I'm so confused and upset and I already don't feel good because I'm so huge and I'm hurting all the time...what can I do??? what am I supposed to do throw away personalized stuff... you can't take it back! :'(
Baby name trouble!?
i think you should tell your husband its to lat and the only reason you changed you mind is because you sacred and worried but its okay it will all work out
i wish you the best of luck with the baby
Reply:Haha I just answered your husbands question. I personally like the name Lucas, but I think its important that both of you guys like the name your son has as he will be just as much your son as his son. You have to talk, understand why he hates the name now, and compromise somehow. Maybe Joshua can be the name of your next son? (if you have another one).
Reply:Be glad that this happened after the birth. My father was a soldier and while he was away my mother named my little brother Henry. My father hated it and he has only ever called him by Fred because he says he likes this name. Confusing for everyone.
A bib isn't really that big a deal. Maybe wait until the baby is born and pik a name together then.
Reply:Instead of trying to persuade him with feelings, use facts. Luke is a Latin name meaning "light". Ellis is a Hebrew name meaning "the Lord is my God". Depending on how religious you are, Luke seems to be more personable making Ellis a more appropriate middle name. What about Luke Ellis Willoughby?
Reply:Tell him it's not fair that he just hates it now. I really love the name Lucas Joshua willoughby i think it sounds perfect! and any way why does he get to decide the name i mean the baby is inside of you!
Reply:Try to think of reasons behind why you picked each name and see which turns out more meaningful. I think that Luke is better than Lucas, but I like the name Joshua better. You could compromise and call him Joshua Luke.

Reply:luke is nicer than lucas, joshua ellis is nice to.
this is the problem when you pick names early
Reply:Name child with a simple American name like Frank or James! also keep in mind the name has to written out for school keep it short easier on child!
ALSO TRY KEEP UNDER FIFTEEN LETTERS TOTAL!
Reply:Wait Till the baby is born
Reply:I believe that your husband has asked this question a short while ago. My advice to him is that he waited too long in deciding that he didn't like the name Lucas. I'd suggest to you that you approach him with calling the baby LJ (eljay), and try to find some Rifleman reruns, with Chuck Connors playing Lucas McCain. Remember too that as the baby becomes a man, he will pick his own nickname.
