Reply:There is no "best" name for a baby boy. It is whatever you like is the best name at the end of the day, just aslong as you make sure that it can't get shortened but if it can don't make it so it is a horrible shortened name such as Nathan can be shortened to Nath which I personally don't like.
Also make sure that the name will never age as your son grows older.
Personally in my opinion if I have a child one day which hopefully I will in the future would be Oscar.

Baby names to go with odd last name?
So we find out on the 5th what we are having, so I figured I would do a little Q%26amp;A for both boy and girl baby names. The last name is Hamm, not a very common last name.
For a boy I liked the name Parker as a middle name (after my father), but my mother says it sounds too much like porker, and then the last name Hamm... hmm :)
So ideas would be greatly appreciated! Preferably some original names, I like the name Lily but I am not too sure...

We want to give our baby a different last name as us. BUT... the story is...
My "last name" is my fathers step fathers. And Im NOT giving the name to my kid when hes born. Im want to go back to my fathers original name which is Lee.
So my question is , what kind of problems will I run into if my kid has a different last name than me and my wife?
His name would be either

Baby name disagreement....?
My husband and I are seriously butting heads about this. He is Mexican, and I am white, which means, our baby, it's a boy, will be named after him, which will make our son the 4th. I'm okay with that, but the disagreement is the middle name. He doesn't want him to have one, I do. He says it's not "customary" in his "culture" for the boy to have a middle name, I agree. But in his "culture" it IS "customary" for the boy to carry his mothers maiden name as the middle name, my husband just chose to drop his mothers maiden name a few years ago. I told him our son could do the same if he chooses. But my husband absolutely REFUSES to allow my maiden name to be a part of our sons. I jokingly said it would be cool, because my maiden name is Henry, which is Enrique in Spanish, and I am a huge Enrique Iglesias fan. Could my husband have internal jealousy (silly I know, but could be true), about that? That's the only reason I think he doesn't want Enrique being a part of the name.

Reply:It's always a good idea to give your child a middle name to distiguish them from all other people in the world with the same first and last names. For example, Juan Rodrigues IV can be the name of hudreds/thousands of men whereas Juan Mario Henry Rodrigues may narrow that down to just a few.

In fact, since you seem to be perfectly amenable to naming your son after your husband to begin with, I really think he should be equally accepting of your desire to give him a name reflective of your side of the family (assuming Henry/Enrique is your most likely choice here).
All that aside, I know PLENTY of families with Mexican heritage -- there is a very large Mexican community where my husband grew up, so many family friends -- and not only are middle names VERY common practice, but many have more than one! I think he may be misleading your for some reason. Possibly because he actually WANTS his son to have the same name in its entirety (for whatever reason ... it seems he may not be thinking this through). But it honestly does not seem to be a cultural thing, as he's claiming.
I'd say some serious discussion is in order. You may even have to put your foot down and let him know that he is not the ONLY one that gets a say in this child's name, and if he wants his name "carried on," so to speak, he needs to give you some leeway with the middle. It's only fair.

For a girl i like Alyssa or katrina. Natalie is ok too but kind of boring i'd pick Natalia instead its prettier. Shiloh is just a copy of a weird celebrity name and aston is very odd name and ugly for a girl. Id personally pick Alyssa Katrina Ketterhagen for a girl.

Baby name problem!?
Hey! I have decided to name my daughter a Hebrew name, Hedya. I know it is really kind of ackward sounding to English people. The reason I have chosen it is it's beautiful meaning, "Echo of God". Meanings are much more important to me than the actual name but of course I have sympathy for my baby girl. The name has a nickname "Dya" pronounced "Die ah". Is this normal/pretty enough for her to go by if she choses? Please don't just trash the name Hedya, I personally think it's lovely but I know that the world can be cruel.

If I were you I would let the name be a surprise until the baby is actually born. I did that with my son. People are much less harsh on a name when it is the baby's actual name. When you are pregnant, people tell you all their reasons why THEY don't like it. But when you present little baby Hedya to them they won't say anything. It is your child after all.

How do you feel about the name "Keller Kate" for a baby girl?

Reply:Kids are mean; they will tease any name, particularly uncommon ones. I doubt many will come up with Helen Keller, but they will tease Keller on its own. But I'm a Molly, and I got teased for that and my last name, which is nothing elaborate. I know a Keelin and a Kylin, and they get along fine.
I like the name, I think it's different and strong. I also like the names Hadley and Harley, though, so I may be biased.

Reply:Kids are mean; they will tease any name, particularly uncommon ones. I doubt many will come up with Helen Keller, but they will tease Keller on its own. But I'm a Molly, and I got teased for that and my last name, which is nothing elaborate. I know a Keelin and a Kylin, and they get along fine.
