I'm not pregnant, but I was talking about baby names with my best friend, and I told her that if I ever have boy twins I'm going to name them Benjamin Scott and Brooks Owen, and she seemed horrifed by the name Brooks Owen... What do you guys think??

Benjamin Scott is a very cool classic name and I've always loved the name Scott. I think Brooks Owen is an awesome name for a boy. One of my friends has an uncle named Brooks. I also love Owen. So just brush off what your friend said.

I need baby name help?
I don't know the sex of my baby. I'm married and it's our first child. The baby's last name will be Hendrix. I've kind of chosen the name Remington Jake if it's a boy and call him (Remy). I know the name is alittle much but my dad recently passed away. He never got to have a boy and if he had had one he would've named him Remington he mentioned it all the time so i think it's only fair I name my boy that for him in his sord of like his honor. Is it a horrible name or do you like it? I think it is unique. For a girl I like Gracey Isabella, Gracey Elise, Gracey Kate, Gracey Pamela(for my grandma), Gracey Spencer or Spencer Kate? Any Suggestions? I like the whole girl with a boy's name thing. I also live in the south, a very country town, so I like old-fashioned, southern, sweet names, too?

So my sis in law is pregnant and I told her that when we got pregnant I wanted to use the name Emma, her husband and mine have always been super competitive and now they have announced they will be naming their baby Emmalee. I am so upset, should i be?

I know EXACTLY how you feel. It's like - WHY can't these people come up with THEIR OWN IDEAS for names!? Seriously, it's getting old for me too. First, I had one try and steal my name recently, but I stood up to her and told her how messed up it would be when she KNEW it was MY name. So NOW my OTHER SIL is preg and the first SIL gave her one of MY two TOP NAMES - I know she did - how snakey huh... anyway, we're not going to use it anyhow but its the principal that counts. if i were you, id come up with something new and BETTER and show them that you dont need THEM to come up with good names.
You can do better than Emily anyway... that name is sooo overused now. . .
come up with something cuter.... THAT WILL REALLY CHAP THEIR HIDES AND TEACH THEM A LESSON....

But remember, there are plenty of other baby girl names to think of! Just don't name your daughter Emma, or any other form of Emma, because that would just be weird for your daughter to also have a cousin with the same name. Plus, by the time you do have a daughter- you might not even like the name Emma anymore! Don't let being upset over a baby name ruin your relationship with your sister in law though, its not worth it. What they did was rude, and unthoughtful- but it might have been innocent and she might have really not remembered you saying you were going to name your daughter Emma.

Emily (no matter the spelling) is the #1 girls name right now... and all of the Em names are fairly popular... Overall, this isn't a name worth getting angry over - it isn't original or rare... and there is simply a ton more in a similar style...
If you want to put a little barb under her skin... smile and tell her in confidence that you are so glad she decided to use the name that was so close to the one you were thinking because you decided that you just couldn't possibly use something so popular/trendy... that you plan on using something a little less common so that your daughter isn't sharing her name with 3 other girls in class (remember Jennifer? Heather? Jessica?)
Besides - who knows if you'll even have a girl. I wanted one, and ended up with 2 wonderful sons :-)

I always loved the name Damian but people tell me that everyone will be calling him the devil. But I love the name Damian Tyler. What do you think?

Perhaps you could ask what some of your relatives' names and middle names were. Sometimes you will find something you really like right in someone's middle name from a couple of generations back. Combine a couple of things together. Just don't worry about other people. When all is said and done, you will be living with your baby, and feeding it, and changing its diapers. Find a name you love.

Reply:Think of a name that seems to jump out at you. You have to feel comfortable with the name, and not worry about what other people think of it. Perhaps you could ask what some of your relatives' names and middle names were. Sometimes you will find something you really like right in someone's middle name from a couple of generations back. Combine a couple of things together. Just don't worry about other people. When all is said and done, you will be living with your baby, and feeding it, and changing its diapers. Find a name you love.
