What do you guys think of the name LaShawna or La Ella for a baby girl?

La Ella is pronounced as "Layla" joining the two words together.

Also, for a baby boy, which middle name looks better:

De Rico

Derrick

Derek

What do you guys think of the name LaShawna or La Ella for a baby girl?
No one will ever pronounce La Ella "Layla" when they read it. I can *guarantee* that. If you like the sound of the name Layla, and you want her to be called that, name her Layla, Leila, Leyla, ANYTHING but La Ella.

Layla is a beautiful name. La Ella (Lah Ellah) is not.

LaShawna...ummm...I'm sure there are nice women named LaShawna so I don't want to say anything mean.

As for the boys names, Derrick, Derek are nice. Rico on its own is fine, but De Rico is weird.
Reply:I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude, but they sound like African American names. I'm just looking at your avatar. If I was to choose one though I would go with La Ella. Why not just spell it Layla though? Doing things like that to kids names can really mess them up. I mean kids will make fun of them and such. As for the boys. I would go with Derrick. Its just like Derek, but with a little pizazz. Not too much, but just enough.
Reply:I don't think anyone is going to pronounce your daughter's name "Layla" (Which I think is a beautiful name). When I read the question, I saw, "La Ella" as two seperate names just like it's spelled. Ella is a nice name too. I don't get the "la" in front of the names though. We're not talking about Queen LAtifah here.

I like Derrick and Deric. De Rico sounds like a country or something.
Reply:I LOVE the name Layla, personally. I agree with others that people will not pronounce LaElla as Layla, but as LahEllah. For the boys, Derrick and then Derek. Don't really like De Rico together.
Reply:i think the girls names sound to ghetto. If you pick La Ella people will pronounce it the way it looks. i would do Shawna, without the La in front of it because Shawna is pretty o its own, or just do Ella. For the boys middle name I like Derek.
Reply:La Ella would/will be pronouced as it looks La then Ella. If you want to name your child Layla then name her Layla. I don't like any name that has a prefix like La, Ja, De, Tre, they all look and sound ghetto.

Layla and Derick or very nice names.
Reply:I like the name Layla, but not the way you spelled it. It's nice that you tried to be original, but Layla is not a very common name anyway and people won't pronounce it right if you spell it Le Ella. And for a boy I like Derek.
Reply:I tend to go for simpler names, and think that La Anything is kind of fussy. So I'd be inclined to go with Layla or Laila, and skip the La Any Name.

Derek first, Derrick second, DeRico not at all. Same reason as above.
Reply:La Ella is not pronounced that way, there is no way it could be. It is a stupid spelling. Your child's peers will not consider you witty or unique for choosing that name, they will only consider you ignorant. It will stigmatize your child.
Reply:No La Ella is just how it sound LA Ella- do you want the kid to go through life saying no no no my name is LAYLA... when if fact the kids name would be LA ELLA?

Name it Layla. It's a beautiful name. or LaShawndra LaShawna is over used...

And Derek looks better.
Reply:Definetly not Ella. In french it would mean The Ella. I'd go for LaShawna but change it to Lashawna, one word, sounds a lot better. As for the middle name for the boy id say Derico, one word also or Derrick.
Reply:Leave off the La. Shawna is a nice name and so is Ella. As for Derek. That is the preferred spelling. Remember to name your baby a name he or she will be proud to have when they grow up....a Bank President name on a door.
Reply:the last 1 it just feels more normal and suites all well thats my point of view but its your baby so go with your heart

what ever its name is youll luv it 2 bits

good luck hun

if this helps please vote me best answer coz im brand new hear and need points it is cheeky but true lol

Reply:Umm....That depends on the baby's first name. In my opinion little boys with the name Derek always tend to be rude and mean but they use what they have to get friends. They are all like that. I would avoid the name.
Reply:How about just Layla? Spelled the traditional way. I think it is a beautiful name that way. and I like Derek for the boy.
Reply:I love the name Layla- but not spelled La Ella. Doesn't make sense. If you are wanting a different spelling try Laighla or Leighla.

And I like Darrick out of the boys names.
Reply:None of them. The first two are ridiculous (the second is badly spelled), and as for the boys names, the first is stupid and the last two are older man's names.
Reply:I like Shawna instead of LaShawna....

I like Derek the best....
Reply:Why not just spell it Layla, which is pretty:)
Reply:Shawna sounds nice... De Rico is alright too.
Reply:I dont care for them but Im just an opinion. Good luck
Reply:Dont like the names.

I believe you should think of some other.
Reply:yuck i don't like those at all sounds like tribal names
Reply:Not good names at all. I wouldnt named my kid that. But you have different views than I
