I'm clueless! my husband hates all the names i come up with! on websites there's just too many to choose from...
where do i start?
or should i just choose what i like and ignore my husband?
How do you pick a baby name?
Since you don't seem to have a starting point, why don't you sit down together and come up with lists of criteria that you want the names to have. Do you like more classic-sounding names, or do you want something that's trendy? Do you want something that is in the Top 10 or 20 in terms of popularity, or do you want something less common. Do you want the first and/or middle names to have some family significance? You can each write down five or ten boys and girls names that you like, and compare lists. It will give you a better idea of the types of names the other one likes.
Start there, and then you can choose names that are the style you are looking for. If you want to know a name's popularity, you can go to this site:
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
If you scroll down a bit, you can see where you can type in a year and look at the Top 1000 names for that year, or you can type in an individual name and see how its popularity has changed over time.
Reply:try to compromise as much as possible until the birth...in the end you will probably get to choose the name...at least that is what happened with me but have a plan in case this doesn't work. (You choose the first, he chooses the second)
or come up with a meaning for a name that you both like and use the websites to work from there.
ask your friends and family to help too...if you get them on your side first, then you can vote and majority rules
hope this helps! :D
Good luck and congrats!
Reply:What I would do is have you and your husband each write down a list of names you each like. Highlight the ones you absolutely love. Then, swap lists and circle the ones on each other's lists that you like. Hopefully, you'll find some overlap. Let's say you both like Andrea, Charlotte, and Grace for girls, and Michael, Oliver, and Henry for boys. Go to nymbler.com and put in these six names. Click "find names" and it'll give you a whole bunch of names that are related, or have similar sounds, or have similar popularities. This can expand your list for you.
Finally, duke it out with your husband until you both agree on the perfect name!
Other ideas to try: Look through your family tree for interesting names to use. Think about people you might want to honor. Are there any languages you both speak? Use a name from that language! Who are your idols? Would you use their names for your children?
Reply:My husband and I had no problem picking out a girls name however we ended up having a boy. For months we fought back and forth on what name we would give to him. Finally we ended up both sitting down and writing our own seperate list of the top 10 names that we would pick. Afterwards we sat together and eliminated names from each others list. In the end we ended up compromising and I pick my sons first name and my husband picked his middle and nickname. It worked out well for us. Good luck!
Reply:tell him to tell u or write down the names he likes...and then write down a list of ur own...do like a list of 20 names each. then go down the list and see if any catch ur eye and possibly if u have a match! me and my husband had to do this w/our 2nd son and ended up me choosing his 1st name, he chose his middle name and we were both happy. his name turned out wondeful and we both love his name. if u think theres too many just think of a letter that u afvor or initials that u like and search only in those catergories! good luck.
Reply:my children

Joanna ....named after Cool and the Gang record ,
Joanna Louise , just sound good together
Twins....Rachel and Ryan ....just names i chose that went well together , Rachel Clare and Ryan Peter
Reply:Each make a list of your favourite names and see if there are any at all that you can agree on, or look at the lists and see if there is a name similar to any you picked that you can compromise on.
Reply:go into ur family history of names. like ur deceased family. those names should mean the most to u. and if u like one a lot ur husband prob wont disagree casue its the name of ur relative.
Reply:When you find the right name - yall should both agee on it. Here are some suggestions:
Boy:
Brayden
Landon
Nicholas
Girl:
Jasmine

Savanna
Hope that helps.
Reply:don't ignore ur husband! come up with a list and try to compromise. if u can't then go to a random name generator and see wat it comes up with!
Reply:u pick the first name he picks the middle name
or the other way round x
