Baby name drama!?

Heres the short of it, my husband and I are ttc baby #2 if its a girl I'd like to call her Addison Lynn however my sister in law is pissed because she plans on trying to have kids in 2 years and if she has a boy she wants to name him atticus..so if we both did that there names in short would be Addi and Atti... However, I really like the name Addison. If I have a girl should I just name her Addison and the heck with the SIL? I think Addi or Atti whichever way spelled is a girl name anyhow? She's making a big stink about it, just thought i'd get all your opinions

Baby name drama!?
i think that its your baby and you should get to name it whatever you want. If you are as set on Addison as she is Atticus then its not fair for you to have to change.
Reply:Tell her to get over herself. It is your kid, name it what you want!
Reply:Whoever has their baby first is the one who gets the pick of names first.

How about you call them Addison and Atticus whenever they are together, instead of Addi and Atti? And the rest of the time they can go by nicknames.

Personally I think Atticus is a terrible name. Maybe if you name your daughter Addison then she won't use Atticus and it'll save her kid a lifetime of teasing.
Reply:until anyone is actually pregnant, there are no dibs on names
Reply:If naming your child Addison will prevent her from naming her's Atticus, I'm all for it.
Reply:Name your child what you want.

Addison and Atticus sound totally different when they say the whole name. Hopefully she'll change her mind about Atticus cos thats just a no no... Although Addison will now be overused you may pick a total different name by the time your baby gets here, and if you have a boy you cant name it Addison Lynn, have to think of baby names.

Tell SIL to piss off...
Reply:name your baby whatever you what! don't let the sister in law talk you out of name, unless it's ridiculous!
Reply:She needs to grow up. You are pregnant now and you have the right to name your child what ever you want. Furthermore, her plans may change and then what. I would say forget it and name your daughter what you want.

goodluck and congrats on the little girl.
Reply:Atticus is not a real name. Your sister is "planning on trying in 2 years?" She'll have 2 years to get over it. I say first born, first served. By the way, EVERY famous porn star uses Lynn as a middle name.
Reply:well, it is your child! and maybe the kids wont even like each other!!! they wont have to hang out. it wont be a problem. or she might not even have a boy! she has no right to tell you what you can and cant name your child!
Reply:Go ahead, name your baby Addison. Its super cute, and Atticus is sort of an awful name. I loved the character in "To Kill A Mockingbird" but the name is just awful. What ever kid is born first should get to choose anyways.
Reply:I say name ur baby what eva u want. Hey it's ur child, and who is to say n/e way what u should name ur child, Addison is cute and I would stick with it, besides ur sis. don't want a baby until about 2 years. Tell her u snooze u loose!
Reply:I really like that name and you should choose whatever name you like. Ignore you're sister in law, it's not her baby.

Hope it works out.
Reply:if you have your baby first then name it whatever you want, you should not have to plan around a SIL who MIGHT use the Atticus, she could change her mind by the time she actually has a baby, and even if she is going to use the name, it';s not like you all live under one roof right? don't worry
Reply:ok there's one way to solve it, first one pregnant gets to pick.
Reply:sorry sil, your baby got here first and atticus really sucks as a baby name
Reply:Its a completely different name so go for it!!

PS. I'm sure ur sister will get over it
Reply:if you have your kid first then name it Addison %26amp; don't worry about it. if not, go ahead anyway.
Reply:Get her pissed and name ur baby Addison! it doesnt matter what she thinks!
Reply:I would just choose another name. Addison is trendy anyway and you might regret it. Atticus is lovely and classy. I would much rather hear that being used than the already way overused and overdone Addison.

Honestly, I don't think there should be an issue now. Neither of you are pregnant. You don't know that you ever will be or that you will infact have a daughter or that she will have a son. I think you guys are getting a head of yourselves and causing unnecessary problems.
Reply:Addison is actually a boy's name, and even though I think it's an incredibly over used name it's still a lot nicer than Atticus. Please name your daughter Addison so that your SIL will drop Atticus. Her going to school with a million other Addison/Addysons will make up for the fact that her cousin won't get the crap beaten out of him on the playground every day. Atticus, really??
Reply:I think its your baby and your choice to name him/her whatever you want to. It's really not a big deal I think. If she likes the name Atticus despite how the nickname use will sound the same she should just use it..They arent going to be the same child or less of an individual because of having similar names. I love the name Addison and think you shuld go for it if thats the name you want.
Reply:2 years.. Still quite a long wait so she'll probably change her mind over her future child's name. Whereas yours is sooner and it's definitely not fair for you to give up the name you like just because of her premature whim. I'd say you go for it and you don't have to feel guilty about it. Let her be pissed off if that's what she wanted to be. Good luck.
Reply:Ok Your pregnant NOW, and she wants to be pregnant in 2 YEARS!!!!! Sounds to me like you have her beat!!! NAme your baby whatever you want let her worry about ADDI %26amp; ATTI later. enjoy this time!!!! ALthough I do LOVE the name Atticus!!!!! Good Luck %26amp; Congrats!!!
Reply:i think you should name whatever you want to its not like they are the same names. just name it what you think is that best your the one who has to carry it for nine months
Reply:name your baby what you want. ddont worry about you sis.
